and yes I said yes I will yes
at Tanzmesse 2022, September 3rd 18.00, FFT Düsseldorf!
This project started as a dialog with Marcelo Evelin. It takes its starting point in the myth of Medusa and its interpretation by French-Algerian author Hélène Cixous in The laugh of the Medusa
“Your continent is black. Black is dangerous. In the dark you can’t see, you are afraid. Don't move because you risk falling. Above all, don't go to the forest. And the horror of the dark, we internalised it. They didn't have eyes for themselves. They did not go to explore their house. Their sex still scares them now. Their body was colonised and they did not dare to come. The woman is afraid and disgusted with the woman ... We got trapped between two horrifying myths: between the Medusa and the abyss. Half of the world would burst out laughing if this did not continue.”

REVIEW:
"A brilliant start: Caroline Eckly opened the Departures dance festival in Munich with her performance and yes, I said yes, I will yes.
The guest performance series Departures shows dance and performances from Norway and opens with a powerful work on female sexuality"

and yes I said yes I will yes is a dance solo which takes its inspiration in the myth of Medusa, a woman turned into a monster by punishment for having been raped.
We talked about the gaze, the eyes like a mirror which reflect the violence of the world or accept the gaze of the other.
We evoked the image of an oracle, who transmits, who invokes, who speaks instead of a God who opens doors that were closed.
We work with an image, a golden figure, statue or human, and the different references this single image can carry. We believe in the power of the singular visual, using the body as raw material, as a bearer of a multi-imaginary.
We suggest the laugh as a cry, as a jolt, as bursts between enchantment and rage.
With a fascination for certain practices and rituals where dance leads to a subconscious state, we offer a dive into the inside, the black continent.
We invite the public to a ceremony, in a timeless space, where they can witness a body in transformation.
